The amount of donations flooding (SIC) into Gympie is truly amazing. There is that much that the storage facilities are filling up.
There are two groups of affected people:
- Those whose houses are so badly affected that they may not yet be able to start the cleaning process.
Some of these folk are waiting on insurance assessors before cleaning up. - Those who have less damage and have been able to access their houses.
Some of these have already had the assessors in, and others have taken it on themselves to start the cleanup.
For those in the 1st group, we need to hand out hand soap, body soap, shampoo, conditioner, face washers, dark towels, moisturiser, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste. A lot of these people won't have had a decent shower or brushed their teeth since last Friday, so these will go down a treat.
For those in the 2nd group, they are going to need sugar soap, sponges, scourers, mops, brooms, dust pans and brushes, multiple pairs of rubber gloves, chux (by the truck load). Glass cleaner, paper towel.
