There have been so many clothes donated, either via trucks and other vehicles from North Queensland and the Sunshine Coast as well as from locals that the storage facilities here are bulging at the seams.

Please hold off donating more clothes. Hang on to them as there may be a time in the future where they are needed.

Most of these places have basic bathroom and toiletry supplies as well.

Here is a list of places that are distributing donated clothing to adversely affected Gympie folk.

St Vincent de Paul (Vinnies) - 2 John Street Gympie - 5482 2737

They have some clothing, toiletries, and cleaning products in the back shed. Ask for Frank.

There is so much clothing out there at Long Flat.

They are also looking for volunteers to help sort out the donations that have arrived there.

Another distribution hub with stacks of clothes and personal items.
They too are always looking for helpers.

They have accepted some clothing donations and are distributing to needy people they connect with in our comunity.

So much clothing available here. It is easy to get to (being in Goldfields Plaza).
They too are usually looking for helpers.

Hi all. I am gathering resources together and will be publishing them here:-

  • So that those that have have suffered from the recent flooding event in the Gympie area can find resources that match their needs.
  • So that those generous helpers who wish to donate goods and services can link up with the best crew for them.
  • To highlight who and where needs the most help.
  • Publish calls for help.
  • Publish warnings of future events.
  • To have a resource that everyone with a web browser can see. Things get buried or missed very quickly on social media.

Please send any updates and information I have missed to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or text them to me (Graham) on 0409 723 008. You can try calling but I am in a bad reception area and may miss your call.

I will try to keep things grouped by the type of resource or service as best I can. I started adding information in a blog style under the menu entry "Disaster". I am now in the process of re-organising the material in a better layout. The Quick Access section on some pages will give you a way of navigating by topic.

Thank you to all the great and generous people in this region pulling together for those less fortunate. Love you all!

My apologies for not getting onto this sooner. My first priority was to a commitment I have with Gympie Medical Transport which is now operating again.

There have been multiple truck and car loads of donated food, clothes, pet food, linen, shoes, books, and furniture arriving from North Queensland. Locals have donated out there too. A big thank you to all who have made that happen.

The main storage facility for these items is at 735 Mary Valley Road, Long Flat (little white church). John and Beck are hosting this on their property. Call Beck them on 0466 251 123

The gates are open 7 days a week from 7am to 5pm. Beck is there all day every day.

There are already volunteers helping to sort the goods. They could use some more help if anyone has time.

You can pick up the things you need directly from the facility, or call Beck and she can probably arrange delivery. They have volunteers out in the affected areas locating those in dire need, making a list of their needs, picking the goods from the facility, then returning to supply them. What a great effort.

They are currently looking for whitegoods.

For those of you who wish to donate items, this would be a good place to take them. They also take cash donations and give it to needy families that turn up at the facility.

The amount of donations flooding (SIC) into Gympie is truly amazing. There is that much that the storage facilities are filling up.

There are two groups of affected people:

  1. Those whose houses are so badly affected that they may not yet be able to start the cleaning process.
Some of these folk are waiting on insurance assessors before cleaning up.
  2. Those who have less damage and have been able to access their houses.
Some of these have already had the assessors in, and others have taken it on themselves to start the cleanup.

For those in the 1st group, we need to hand out hand soap, body soap, shampoo, conditioner, face washers, dark towels, moisturiser, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste. A lot of these people won't have had a decent shower or brushed their teeth since last Friday, so these will go down a treat.

For those in the 2nd group, they are going to need sugar soap, sponges, scourers, mops, brooms, dust pans and brushes, multiple pairs of rubber gloves, chux (by the truck load). Glass cleaner, paper towel.

I am monitoring a couple of facebook groups to determine what is needed now versus later. Stay tuned.
